Growth for 2021
Amazingly, one-twelfth of 2021 is now over. As I mentioned last month, our focus in 2021 continues to be providing exceptional results for our customers and continuous learning so we are all prepared to offer the best, most up-to-date solutions for our customers’ challenges. In addition to taking great care of our existing customers to produce comparable results to 2020, we have targeted two specific areas for growth in 2021: New National Lender Sales and Commercial Title.
- New Lender Sales: We have invested in our Strategy & Growth Team consisting of Kyle Kauss, Joe Mainolfi and Lee Malone, to infuse CSS with new lender customers and new revenue. While both Joe and Lee have been trained to sell all of our products, Joe’s primary focus is selling new first mortgage refinance accounts, while Lee’s primary focus is selling new home equity lender accounts. Kyle is managing Joe and Lee’s efforts to produce a budgeted increase in new revenue of approximately $1.5M.
To assist the direct sales efforts of the Strategy & Growth Team, marketing's focus is to produce inbound leads for Kyle’s team to pursue. Through the use of digital marketing and collaboration with various marketing vendors, Jake is working to identify lenders with needs matched by the specific settlement solutions provided by CSS. - Commercial Title: Our Michigan branch operations had a great 2020 producing approximately $3.0M in revenue versus $2.6M in 2019. Approximately $500,000 of this amount was attributable to commercial title, which added approximately 20% or $100,000 to our bottom line profits. We are focused in 2021 on producing an additional $100,000 in profits from commercial title transactions.
Initially, we will apply a similar inbound digital marketing strategy on Michigan commercial referral sources with the intent on growing the number of Michigan commercial customers and revenue. Once this has taken place and new national lenders are being onboarded each quarter, we will invest in creating a commercial title operation in Austin, Texas directly managed by Ashley.
These are the great opportunities for our collective growth in 2021. We look forward to the daily challenges that must be met to produce these desired results!

Jerome was the founder of CSS in 1992, and has been its CEO and General Counsel since that time. Prior to CSS, Jerome was in private practice in southeastern Michigan, concentrating in real estate law and commercial litigation.
CSS has been on the forefront of utilizing full digitization of real estate transactions. It has been closing transactions for several years using electronic and remote online notarization technology, being one of the first and only title companies to embrace the paperless process.
