Employee Spotlight: Alaina Wills

I have been in the title business for 18 years as a closing agent and now office manager.  I started with Isabella County Abstract in June of 2004 and then merged to CSS 4 years later.

When I first heard about the closing position from a friend who worked here, I had no idea what title insurance even was.  My prior job was doing payroll and accounting for multiple businesses, and I quickly found that it was not for me.  Doing the same thing week after week got boring and old.

What I love the most about my job is the interaction with people and that you never have a duplicate day.  One career lesson I have learned over the years is to never assume anything because you are usually wrong, and it makes you look bad.

I was born and raised in Mt Pleasant and my husband is from Shepherd.  We have been married for 19 years and have two kids aged 15 and 12 who keep us running and involved in the community.  My son Ayden is into anything that has a motor and goes fast, downhill skiing, football, and hunting.  My daughter Taylor loves to swim, downhill ski, and play basketball.

I love photography, sunsets, sunrises, being on a lake, and rocks.  In 2020 we took a week’s vacation and explored the Upper Peninsula which is full of photogenic scenery, water, and rocks, leaving me with the feeling of needing to go back all the time, as there is so much to see.  I enjoy being out on the lake and traveling with family.  The first thing I would buy if I won the lotto would be a house on Torch Lake for the summer and a place on the Gulf of Mexico for the winter, then put in my two-week notice.  😊
