Ramadan Comes to a Close with Eid-Al-Fitr

May 12th marks the end of Ramadan, a month celebrated by Muslims. Eid al-Fitr marks the closing of Ramadan, in which many Muslims dress in fine clothing and children receive gifts on Eid al-Fitr, as well as attend communal prayers, listen to a khutba (sermon), and give zakat al-fitr (charity in the form of food). Fasting and prayer are also important components to Eid al-Fitr.

Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month

The theme for the observance of Asian American Pacific Islanders is "Advancing Leaders Through Purpose-Driven Service." This year's theme is the start of the new theme series for 2021-2024 highlighting FAPAC's efforts in “Advancing Leaders”.

In 1980, the Census Bureau officially created the "Asian and Pacific Islander" category. "Asian and Pacific Islander" contains both geographic and racial overtones, provided that natives of Australia and New Zealand aren't included, nor are whites born in the Asian region of the former Soviet Union.

Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM)

JAHM is in recognition of the indelible contributions American Jews have made, and continue to make, to our nation’s history, culture, and society. Each year, this national celebration shows the ways in which this history deserves our collective attention, pride, and recognition.

Put best by the National Museum of American Jewish History, the stories of American Jewish life are quintessential American stories of resilience, aspiration, imagination, determination, and achievement.
